Ford Fusion drivers side handle cracked

2009 Ford Fusion driver's side interior handle cracked in 2013. This vehicle gets normal usother thank I had a estimate at a local ford dealership and they said $400.00 to fix. Now two years later, it doesn't work at all. I have to roll down my window and use the exterior handle to get out of my car. I would think a door handle would last longer than four years!
